He was born Jan. 15, 1952. He married Sue Rucker on July 15, 1972, in Lubbock. He was a member of the Northwest Bible Church in Spring, where he was a former resident. He was a mechanical engineer and spent more than 24 years in the Houston area.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Kenny Vernon of Richmond; a daughter, Lisa Vernon of Denton; his mother and stepfather, Mary Ann and Frank Gentry of Bartlesville, Okla.; a grandmother Caddie Burrows of Bartlesville; two sisters Laura Heald of Orem, Utah, and Lianne McKinley of Houston; and a brother Robert Vernon of West Des Moines, Iowa.
The family suggests memorials to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, Ill., 60018; or to the donor's favorite charity.
