One of Jefferson county's best citizens passed away Tuesday night at his home one mile north of Bower. Hiram Chapman came here in 1883 and was known as a man of his own opinions, one of high character and lofty purpose.
He was born in Shenango county, New York over 75 years ago; moved from there to Peru, Ind in 1850 and from there to Nebraska. He leaves three sons, Geo. A., Leonard and Charles, and two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Bundy of Colorado Springs and Mrs. Chas Fogelburg of Wymore. The latter was present at the funeral.
Death resulted from a complication of diseases incident to old age. The remains were interred Thursday in the Bower cemetery.
