Simon Rhoades
Simon E. Rhoades, 76, Union City, Ohio Route 1 930 Ellis Road, died suddenly, Tuesday morning, April 1, 1986, while working in his garden.
He was born Jan. 28, 1910 in Darke County, Ohio and was the son of the late Jacob and Mary Shafer Rhoades. He lived in Darke county most of his life and was engaged in vegetable and melon farming in Mississinawa Township until his retirement in 1975.
Rhoades was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren where he was a lifetime deacon, taught Sunday School and was also a superintendent of the Sunday School at one time. He was a past trustee of the church. His wife, Ola May Coblentz Rhoades, is deceased.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Retha) Price and Mrs. George (Sylvia) Replogle, both of Union City, Ohio; one son, Roscoe K. of Greenville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held at the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Harold Freeman and the Rev. John Hurst officiating. Burial will be in the New Lisbon Cemetery.
Friends may call the Miller Funeral Home, Greenville, from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Memorials may be given to the Pleasant Valley Church Memorial Fund.
