Bessie (Betty) Washburn, 90, Holts Summit, formerly of Steelville, Mo., died Sat., October 13, 2007, at Summit Villa in Holts Summit. She was born December 14, 1916, in Princeton, Kentucky, the daughter of Albert and Martha (Nichols) Boitnott, Betty was the youngest of 12 children, all who are deceased. She was united in marriage to Joseph C. Washburn on September 22, 1934, and to this union one daughter was born. Joseph preceded her in death on February 18, 1992.
Betty and her husband, J.C. were pastors of several churches in the state of Missouri, together they would spend almost 40 years in the ministry.
Betty is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Litty (Jim) of Holts Summit; two beloved grandchildren, Deborah Lynn (Bob) Anzalone of Fenton, Mo., and Christopher Alan (Lesa) Litty of New Bloomfield; two beautiful great-granddaughters, Bethany Litty of Columbia, and Makayla Litty of New Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2007, in the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Steelville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family is being served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Mo. (573) 775-2123.
