Former Mayor of Teton City, Idaho. Farmer

SHELLEY—Stanley Harrison Welch, 66, Shelley resident and former mayor of Teton City, died Saturday In his home Following a lingering illness.

He was born on July 4, 1904 at Wilford, the son of William McArthur (sic) Welch. He married Orpha Johnston on June 1, 1925 at St. Anthony. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.

The family lived in Wilford where they farmed, later moving to Teton City where he continued to farm and bought a school bus — driving for the Fremont County school district. He served as Mayor of Teton City, and was on the town board for many years. In 1954, the family moved to Shelley where he had a farm which was later sold. He drove a school bus for School District 60 until the time of his death.

He was a member of the LDS Church, superintendent of the Sunday School and the M.I.A. chairman of the genealogical committee, assistant ward clerk in both the Teton and Shelley Wards and a member of the High Priests Quorum presidency of the LDS Church.

Survivors include: his widow; sons, J. Stanley Welch and Jacob Keith Welch, Idaho Falls; daughters, Nadyne Sundberg Burley, and Elizabeth Case, Shelley; one sister, Eliza Birch, St. Anthony; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter.

The place and time of services and interment will be announced later by the Nalder Funeral Home.
