Man, 44, Ends Life; Services Thursday

Kenneth Edwin Beery, 44, died in his home at 1329 Home Ave. at 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

An employe of the Lincoln National Bank & Trust Co., he was a member of the First Methodist Church and its Men's Club. He was also a member of the Southwest Conservation Club, the Northeast Indiana Aquarium Society, and Moose Lodge 200.

Dr. Gordon Franke, county coroner, said the death was a suicide. He said Beery shot himself in the basement of his home.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; three daughters, Monette K., Carol Ann and Barbara Louise, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Leota I. Beery, Fort Wayne; a brother, John W. of Decatur; and a sister, Marjorie Beery, Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials are to the First Methodist Church Building Fund or Emmaus Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

The body was taken to Chalfant-Perry-Klaehn Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in First Methodist Church, the Rev. Hubers L. Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
