Afton was born October 7, 1920 in Provo to Parley Percival and Margaret Meldrum Bigelow.
Afton attended both Provo and BY High School and graduated from BYU, where she was a student body officer. Afton met her beloved Keith at BYU. After his mission to Canada, they married on September 2, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. She managed the Grove Theater while Keith was serving in Europe during WWII. She loved teaching elementary school and did so for 20 years. Afton had a life-time of serving in teaching and leadership callings in the LDS Church.
Our mother emphasized with her family the importance of the Gospel, family, and education. After retirement, she and Keith served missions in Nigeria and Ghana and also in the newly built Dallas Temple. Upon their return, they served in both the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples.
Her cheerful, positive, and grateful personality and words of encouragement will be greatly missed by her family.
