EARLY PIONEER PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Charles Humphrey passed away at Pomona Calif, Oct. 20, 1926. Mary Louise Dellinois was born in New York City August 11 1847 where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Charles Humphrey of that city in 1864. To this union were born 11 children.
Her husband and two children preceded her to a better world. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons six daughters, fourty-two grand children; and fourty-four great grand children. The children are Mrs. Emma Shaft of Alomosa Colo, Mrs. W. N. Lewis of Lebo Kansas, William Humphrey of Cottonwood Falls Kans., Mrs. Ida Hutton of Montorey Calif., Mrs. Dora Kilpatrick of New York City, Charles C. Humphrey of Pomona Calif, Edward Humphrey of Twin Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Mollie Bradley of Wrangel Alaska, and Mrs. Addie Howden of San Diego Calif. Mrs. Humphrey will be remembered by many of the old pioneer settlers as this was her home for many years having lived here before this city was started.*** She was the one that got this city started and named it Lebo and had the first post office in Lebo, later turning it over to Mr. D. L. Jones, who purchased this land and the first store in Lebo.*** Mrs. Humphrey having made the plot of this city and naming the four principle streets which are Ogdon, Main, Market and Elm, later moving to Cushing, Okla. where they resided for a good many years, then moving from there to Twin Falls Idaho on account of poor health and from there moving to Pomona California, with her son Charles where she passed away. She was very industrious and always ready to help other's. She lived a good Christina life joining the M. E. Church at the age of 16, and lived faithful to the end.
One precious to our hearts has gone
The voice we loved is stilled,
The place made vacant in our home
Can never more be filled.
Our Father in his wisdom called
The boon his love had given,
And though on earth the body lies,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
