Confederates Who Sleep In A Virginia Graveyard.
Washington, October 14, 1880.

To the Editor of The Daily News:
I have been informed that the fourteen Confederate soldiers from South Carolina who were taken prisoners by the Federals during the war, and subsequently died in hospital, were buried together in the churchyard of Christ Church, at Alexandra, Virginia, (which church General Washington, attended regularly during his life time.)Their bodies now lie interred under a large mound, which is marked by a single slab; bearing their names as follows:

Wm. J. Fralic, Sgt. 25th S.C.
Daniel V. Frazier, Corp. 7th S.C.
H. L. B. Fleming , Pvt. 25th S.C.
G.L. Herron, Pvt. 7th S.C.
Henry G. Proctor, Pvt. 25th S.C.
Erastus W. Hayes, Pvt. 25th S.C.
Wm. W. Taylor, Pvt. 25th S.C.
Charles Firtich, Pvt. 25th S.C.

Inscription

How sleep the brave who sink to rest
By all their Country's wishes blest.

Beneath this mound lie the remains of thirty-four Confederate Soldiers Which were disinterred from the Alexandria Soldiers' Cemetery (Federal) and reinterred in this ground on the 27th day of December, 1879, under the auspices of the Southern Memorial Association of Alexandria, VA.

These men were prisoners of war who died in the Federal Hospital in this city.
