As my dream as a pilot and piloting for many years, I have taken my last flight, destination unknown on June 23, 2009. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, brother, son, and friend.

Born March 8, 1926 in Tropic, Utah to Maurice and Olive De Esta Cope.

He spent his early years loving the great outdoors of Bryce Canyon and Zion Park. He graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah.

On August 12, 1944, he joined the Army where he proudly served, in Italy until he was honorably discharged on August 20, 1946. During the next few years he pursued his passion for flying receiving his pilot's license in April 1948.

He was later married to Eve, and became the loving father to three step children.

He is survived by his three step children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also, by his sister Rhea Jensen. Sisters-in-law Clara Cope and Miriam Cope as well as many others. Preceded in death by brothers Neldon, Elmo, Grant, Gene, and Max as well as sisters, Gwen Cope and Etna Crosgrove.

He enjoyed fishing with his family and brothers, flying, gardening, and old west novels.

He was a great mechanic and fixer of all mechanical things. He will be remembered for his story telling, his quick wit, generosity and loving nature. He was always there to lend a hand a laugh and a shoulder to all.

A remembrance will be held for him on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at his home, 260 East 800 South, 3rd floor meeting room.
Interment will be held at Utah Veteran's Memorial Park, 17111 Camp Williams Road, on Monday, June 30, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.
