Funeral services were held last Friday (16 October, 1942) for Silas F. Maddux, 78, at his home in Baxter, the Rev. J. A. and J. D. Harris officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery on the Nashville highway. (Maddux - Elrod Cemetery).
Survivors besides his wife are 1 son, George Maddux of Baxter, and 1 daughter, Mrs. Solon Gentry of Cookeville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Maddux was a member of the Methodist Church, a Mason and Modern Woodman. He was engaged in farming prior to his retirement a few years ago.
