Services were held at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel Monday afternoon for Mrs. Irene Mary Burns, 77, who died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 28. The Rev. Marvin Niblack officiated and burial was in Maple Cemetery.
Mrs. Burns was born September 14, 1889, at Randolph, Tenn., the daughter of John Dayton and Dora Jane Gillette. She was married to Henry Lester Burns in Caruthersville on November 9, 1910 and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1954. She was a member of Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert L. Burns of Vallejo, Calif.; and four half-brothers, Clayburn, Clarence, Samuel and Jace Gillette, all living in California.
