Mrs. Harriet Stoops died Friday evening at the home of her son-in-law, J. R. Moore, in Southport, from an attack of heart trouble. About six months ago she went from Franklin where she had been living for a number of years, to visit Mr. Moore's family, and owing to her age and illness which developed, she was not able to return home.
The body was brought to Franklin Saturday afternoon and taken to the home of Mrs. Celia Barnhizer. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Grace M.E. church, conducted by Rev. C. H. Hall, assisted by Rev. Hallie Waggener. Burial at Greenlawn.
Mrs. Stoops was born May 11, 1828 in Hancock County, her maiden name being Harriet Parker.
She was twice married. Her first husband was Jacob Barnhizer whose death occurred during the Civil War in Alabama. Her second marriage was to Mr. Stoops of Acton. She survived all her children, namely Ed. G. Barnhizer, Carey J. Barnhizer, Mrs. John Moore and Mrs. Clark, all of whom passed away within the last eight or ten years.
Mrs. Stoops was one of the oldest residents of the city and was held in great esteem.

Harriet was the daughter of James Parker and his first wife (name not known). She was born 11 May 1829 In Marion County, Indiana. She married FIRST Jacob Barnhizer and had the following children:
(1) Alice May (b. 1852 d. 1899 Johnson Co. IN) Franklin (b. 1856)
(2) Cora (b. 1860 d. 1899 Johnson Co. IN)
(3) Edward (b. 1863 d. 1905 Johnson Co. IN)
All the children were born in Hamilton Co. IN.
Jacob Barnhizer was killed in the Civil War. He died 6 Dec 1863 in Stevenson, Alabama.

Hariett Stamps Stoops, an 82 year old widowed white female, died about 3:30 pm on September 23, 1910 in Indianapolis. The cause of death was valvular disease of heart. No information was known about her parents by the informant, John Moore, of Southport. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.
