James Monroe Marlow, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19.

My dad was born in Commerce, GA, and he was the son of Richard Webster and Maude Nunn Marlowe.

Dad was retired from the textile industry and a member of Bethesda Full Gospel Tabernacle. My daddy worked until a few short years ago. He always took a lot of pride in taking care of his family and work.

Daddy served our country in the US Army during World War II. He was awarded a Bronz Star among a few other medals. He went overseas on the Queen Mary not long after he married mom.

In addition to his parents, Dad was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Marlow; 2 infant daughters; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Dad is survived by his wife of 31 years, Edna R. Marlow; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cindy Marlow of Troy, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Greg Olmstead of Kings Mountain; step-daughter, Gloria Doster of Gaffney, SC; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 10:00 AM Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM in Founders Chapel.

Pastors Rick Harris and Larry McDaniel will officiate.

Entombment to follow at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum of Peace with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Full Gospel Tabernacle, 2422 Lowell Bethesda Road, Gastonia, NC 28056. Condolences may be sent online to www.mcleanfuneral.com McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia is serving the family of Mr. Marlow.

Daddy died in his sleep and he was ready to go.
