She was buried next to the grave of her son, William, pictured at right. A very small stone nearby saying only "Mother" is not visible in the upper picture taken in 1976, but can be seen mounted on the base in the more recent picture below it.

DEAN - Jemima died on 9 June 1870, at the residence of her son, Henry Clay Dean, in the city of Mount Pleasant, Ia. Mrs D was born in Dorchester co, Md. Her father, Solomon Insley, immigrated to Western Pa when she was but a child. Only 2 of her children survive her.
