Beth Powell Cross, 83, of Valdosta died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville with the Rev. Hillman Hendley officiating.

Born Sept. 27, 1920, in Moultrie, Ms. Cross was the daughter of the late Alexander Campbell Powell Sr. and Mary Edna Gilchrist Powell. She grew up in Moultrie on her parents' dairy farm, Powell Dairy. A graduate of Moultrie High School, she worked with Sears and Roebuck in Bainbridge for several years before working with Independent Life Insurance in Thomasville, where she won many awards for her sales achievement and was honored in the southeast region as top insurance salesperson. Ms. Cross also worked with Woodcock Farms in Moultrie before retiring in 1998. She was of the Presbyterian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; five sisters; two husbands, Auldon F. Jordan Sr. and Glenn H. Cross Sr.; and one son, Auldon F. Jordan Jr.

Survivors include four sons, James F. Jordan of Geyton, Robert O. Jordan and wife Judy of Dahlonega, Glenn H. Cross and wife Dianne of Yulee, Fla., and Rodney H. Cross and wife Myra B. of Lake Park; 11 grandchildren, Halie Karlson of Jupiter, Fla., Gia Sparks of League City, Texas, Marty Jordan of Atlanta, Robert Jordan of Dawsonville, David Jordan of Dahlonega, Travis Jordan of Tallahassee, Fla., Kathy Bradley of Pavo, Brandon Flynn of Tacoma, Wash., Cass Cross and Corey Cross, both of Yulee, and Ron Cross of Lake Park; six great-grandchildren, Landon Veatch, Corey Sparks, Krista Karlson, Justin Karlson, Catherine Ann Phillips and Kendal Bradley; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Bradley and Allie Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research Foundation, Attention: Grants & Contributions, 1236 Ginger Crescent, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
