Sarrah Ellen (Stark) Deen was born July 30, 1854, in Edgar County, Illinois.
She moved to Kansas with her mother, brothers, and sisters in 1868, where she lived in Chautauqua County until her marriage to W.H. Deen, August 25, 1876.
To this union were born four children, Elmer M., who resides at Independence, KS, Clarence W., who preceded his mother in death in 1903, Harley C., and Adda M., who reside at home.
She united with the Christian Church in early girlhood and has always been a faithful Christian, attending her church whenever her health would permit.
Her last sickness was of short duration, although she has been frail for several years. She was ready to go. Her only regret was to leave her family, for she was always a kind and loving mother, thinking only for the comfort of her loved ones.
She is survived by her devoted husband; three children; five grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by J.M. Plummer, pastor of the Christian Church.
