Born in Virginia, son of William and Catherine Snider. Married Elizabeth Hesser in Loudoun county before 1787. Henry was an early Ohio pioneer who migrated to Ross County Ohio just ahead of brothers Jacob and William. Henry's son, John was born in Ohio in 1801 and son Peter was born in Ohio in 1804. Henry Snider was among the members of the Concord Presbyterian church in 1805 and appeared on the Ross County Ohio tax list in 1806. One account states that the 1805 Concord members came from the Salem Buckskin Presbyterian Church. Henry Snider was a volunteer in the War of 1812. In 1813 Henry and wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" were founding charter members of the Washington CH Presbyterian church. Henry Snider was a local farmer, businessman, and Fayette county circuit judge. Henry and Elizabeth Snider had 7 children. Henry also built and ran "Old Snider's Mill" on Sugar Creek, just south of this cemetery where the road crosses the creek. The water on the creek operated a Grist Mill and a Saw Mill. The mill was referred to in the boundary descriptions of Wayne, Union, and Green townships. Henry also ran a couple of local stores. This cemetery is probably located on the farm referred to in Fayette county history books as the Samuel Coffman farm, formerly owned by Henry Snider. Their sons were John, Peter and William and their daughters were Hannah Legore, Catherine Caylor Burnett, Elizabeth Orr, and Nancy Orr Prickett. I am still not 100% certain which William is Henry's son. Henry's brother, William also had a son, William, so we are still trying to discover who belongs to who.
