Deceased Name: Daniel J. Hawks OGDEN - Daniel Joshua Hawks, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday, May 13, 2002 at Washington Terrace Nursing Center following an extended illness.

He was born January 6, 1917 in Black Pine, Idaho, a son of Franklin Levi and Chloe Maria Harris Hawks.

Daniel married Marjorie Lucille Reed on August 12, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Daniel graduated from Weber High School and auto mechanic school.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife served a temple mission in Chicago.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Daniel worked at Hill Air Force Base, the Ogden Clinic, and was a general contractor.

He loved hunting, fishing and bowling. Daniel had a great love for people and was always willing to help others before himself.

Surviving are his loving wife, Marjorie, of Ogden; four children, Gary Reed (Janet) Hawks, Farr West; Diane Spalding, Montana; Jeff (Jenifer) Hawks, South Weber; Debra (Ted) Wige, Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Bliss Rasmussen, Ogden; Norma Gieger, Ogden; and Colleen Kirkpatrick, Logan.

Preceding him in death were his parents, seven brothers and sisters, and his son-in-law, Jerry Spalding.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Washington Terrace Nursing Center for the care they rendered to Daniel.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist"s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
