Word was received of the death of Mrs. T. A. Irwin at Galveston, Texas. She was formerly a resident of Lincoln and is the daughter of Mrs. Kate Dennis of Lincoln Heights. The body will be brought to Lincoln for burial.

May Dennis Sutherland Irwin -- A Remembrance Service
will be held for our ancestor who passed away January 9, 1905 at her home in Galveston, TX. She was the daughter of Redford and Catherine Santee Dennis, born on May 10, 1868, Mayfield Twp., DeKalb Co., Ill. She was married twice, first to George Sutherland, and later to T.A. Irwin. As a child her pioneer family moved often, earlier years by oxen and then in later years by train. Her death came violently at the age of 36 years. Her resting place had been uncertain for many years, but now she has been found. Recently a headstone was erected at her place of rest. May was preceded in death by her father, Redford H. Dennis. Survivors in 1905 were her mother, Mrs. Kate Dennis, seven sisters; Mrs. Norman (Jessie) Schamp, Mrs. Harvey (Elizabeth) Bartlett, Mrs. William (Edna) Campbell, Mrs. Charles (Minnie) Leech, Mrs. George (Fontanelle) Ray, Hazel Fern Dennis, Mrs. Elmer (Georgianna) Baldwin; one brother, Charles Dennis. The survivors as of 2002 are; 10 nephews, 6 nieces, 33 grand nephews, 41 grand nieces, 41 great-grand nephews, 34 great-grand nieces, 10 great-great-grand nephews and 8 great-great-grand nieces, many living in and around Lincoln. The Remembrance service will be held at the grave site located in the G.A.R. Circle, Wyuka Cemetery, Saturday May 25, 2002, 10:30 a.m., Rev. Fritz Hudson from the Unitarian Church in Lincoln will provide a eulogy for the Remembrance Service. On this special day all is welcome by the descendants to attend.
