WILLIAM A. MORFORD
William Allen Morford was born September 19th, 1856, in Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa, and died on the 17th day of February, 1917, in St. Joseph, Mo., having reached the age of 60 years, 4 months and 28 days. Mr. Morford spent the early part of his life in the vicinity of his birthplace.
On the 5th of March, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Malissa Bougher, in Pleasant township, Lucas county. They lived in Lucas county until 1905, when they moved to St. Joseph, and that city has since been their home. This union was blessed with three children, one son, William Harvey, who recently preceded him in death, and two daughters, Elma Lavina Prather and Viva Lena Spencer.
Mr. Morford and his companion were converted about twenty-six years ago and united with the M. E. church and held their membership in that church until some time after they removed to Russell, where they united with the Evangelical church.
Mr. Morford was an earnest christian, desirous to see the cause of Christ prosper. His prayers and testimonies were appreciated. His kindly christian demeanor during his last sickness made deep and lasting impressions on those who called on him to give him words of encouragement.
His affliction, which lasted more than a year, was borne without complaint or murmer. He has gone to the realms beyond to be with the redeemed forever.
He leaves to mourn his demise his wife, two daughters, his aged mother, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Russell on Tuesday, followed by interment in the Russell cemetery.
