Abelino served in the 1st Regiment, New Mexico Infantry (New). The unit served on garrison duty by detachments at Forts Union, Solden, Craig, Bowie, Cummings, McRae, Goodwin and other points in the New Mexico Department during its entire term of service. The unit mustered out of service on 7 Nov 1866.

Abelino served in Company C of the NM Volunteer Infantry from Jan 1863 to 1866 (1890 NM Soldier Census).

Around 1871, Abelino married Casimira Escudero. They resided in Santa Fe. Their identified children were: Eduvigen, Francisca, Simona, Felicita, and Lucia. Eduvigen married Daniel de Herrera.

On 25 May 1892, Abelino filed for his military pension in New Mexico. His unit was recorded as Company C, "1 N. Mex Inf." On 8 Nov 1910, his widow, Casimira E. de Blea, filed for the same pension (Pension Card).
