Charles J. Cibik, 71, of Allegheny Township, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 7, 2009, in his home with his family surrounding him. He was born March 5, 1938, in West Leechburg, son of the late Charles and Mary (Kawka) Cibik. He was a 1956 graduate of Leechburg High School, where he was an all-star for the football team. After high school, he entered the Army for three years. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he attended Point Park College for two years. After college, he became the co-owner of Myrna's Catering of Pittsburgh, until his retirement. During his retirement, he was an active real estate agent for Century 21 American Heritage, Allegheny Township, until his time of death. He enjoyed his HAM radio, playing scrabble and especially spending time with his family. He attended Mt. Hope Church of God, Allegheny Township. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Janis (Bracken) Cibik; three children, Lori (Joseph II) Cardaro, of New Kensington, Shawn (Jennifer) Bracken, of Vandergrift, and Andrea (Stephen) King, of Allegheny Township; two grandchildren, Shelby and Tanner Bracken, of Vandergrift; one sister, Kathleen (James) Detar, of Vandergrift; two brothers, Frank (Amy) Cibik, of West Virginia, and James Cibik, of Apollo; three nephews, Derek Detar, of Vandergrift, Jonathan Cibik, of West Virginia, and Joshua Cibik, of Apollo; three nieces, Maria (John) Carpenzano, of Leechburg, Christina Cibik, of West Virginia, and Julia Cibik, of Apollo; mother-in-law, Louise Coleman, of Allegheny Township; and brother-in-law, John (Pam) Coleman, of Allegheny Township. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, with Pastor Deborah Mentel, of Mt. Hope Church of God, Allegheny Township, officiating. Burial will be private in Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Township.
