Joe "Papa Joe" Evans, age 73 of Seguin, passed away on Jan. 23, 2009.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, from 2-7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville, Rev. Jeremy Roy and Mr. Darren Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery.
Joe was born on Oct. 15, 1935, in Corsicana, Texas, to Jesse and Arabell Evans. "Papa Joe" loved the Lord and spent many years as a Pastor. Most recently he will be remembered as a feature story writer for the KWED Daily News where he interviewed the citizens of Seguin.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, son, Timothy Womack, sister, Betty Daniel and granddaughter, Ashley Womack. Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Evans; daughters, Julie Scow and husband Gary, and Pam Womack; son, Tommy Womack; grandson, Wesley Womack; granddaughters, Taylor Nichols, Dana Womack and Brooke Womack; great-granddaughter, Ashley Womack; brother, James Evans and wife, Hazel; sisters, Mickey Brooks and husband, Ray; Mary Whittenberg and husband, Bobby; sister-in-law, Sue Bennett and husband, Gene; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
