A story passed down from Bo to Jackie Rauls: At 26 yrs old, Luther had a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. He passed from the bleeding. Bo thought it was a sinus cancer but no way of knowing.

Duplicate Luther Rauls?

Observation: This is very confusing. This memorial day 2014, I went to Prosperity to take some photos. I ran across this stone that you couldn't ready very well. I took a little dirt and dusted the top, and up pops 'LUTHER son of R. (Roe) and M.J. (Maggie Jane) Rauls". Only about 30 feet from the Luther headstone we are all familiar with. The dates are totally different. Birth day is only about 4 years off, but the death date is much earlier. Many census doc's show Luther Rauls to have lived past this date. This is by far the older stone and fits other stones of it's time. What happened? Was there 2 Luthers? Was he disowned and had a stone erected? Was the death date misread here and the newer stone was put up due to not finding this stone (it was very illegible when I walked up). Maybe the other stone was just a memorial in lieu of finding this stone? Who knows - everyone who had a clue has been dead for over a century.
