Mildred Pauline Lewis, 73 of R R 1, Kirkwood, died at 412pm Wed, Jan 20, 1993, at her residence She was born April 13, 1919, in rural Mercer, the daughter of Lawrence W Kendall and Gladys Rose McIntyre She lived in rural Mercer Co until the age of five when she and her family moved to Louisville, KY She attended Louisville schools until returning to this area at the age of 16 She married David Russell Lewis on December 26, 1936, in Louisville, KY In addtition to being a homemaker, she was the Activity Director at Applegate Nursing Home in Monmouth for a number of years during the 1970's She was active in the Home Extension Service and served as a Girl Scout leader Her many interests included knitting and handwork, ceramics, painting, bowling, flowers, and especially her grandchildren Survivors include her husband, David Russell Lewis of Kirkwood; two daughters, Mrs Richard (Mildred) Chandler of Monmouth and Mrs Elizabeth Clark of Hamilton VA; one son Lt Col Select David Russell Lewis of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Paul Kendall and William Carl Kendall, both of St Petersburg, FL, and Howard Eugene Kendall of Mascot, TN, three sisters, Verna Izora Alvey of Chino, CA, Doris Berniece Kessinger of St Petersburg, FL and Athaleen Lucille Meredith of Louisville, KY She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday at Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth with Rev Kathleen Edmission officiationg Cremation rites will follow Honorary pallbearers will be John Kelly, John Feehan, Russell Feehan, Todd Feehan, Wayne Feehan, Cliff McDonald, David Lewis, Greg Clark, Msathew Kesner and John Chandler Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home Memorial, in liew of flowers, may be left to Warren Co Chapter of the American Heart Association
