Mary Jane Coakley Smith Yates, 88, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, May 18th, 2005 at Doctors Hospital in Nelsonville. She was born April 2nd, 1917 in Buchtel, the daughter of the late William and Emma (Stephenson) Coakley. She was married to her late husbands Lawrence E. Smith and Albert Yates.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She wished to be remembered by her love for God, her family, and friends. She lived at the Dew House in Nelsonville for 22 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nelsonville.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie (Dana) Bookman of Logan, two sons, Larry (Wanda) Smith of Thurman and Bill (Alberta) Smith of Jacksonville, sister-in-law- Zella Pierce Coakley of Carol, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and husbands, Mary Jane was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Bernard, and Walt Coakley, sisters, Myrtle Mohney, Nellie Hayden, Ruth Brian, Lattie Thomas and Florence Barber, and grandchildren Philip Smith, Wayne Smith, Dane Bookman, and Beth Ann Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Mary Jane's Memory to the Church of your choice.
Honoring our Mary Jane's wishes, Graveside Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20th, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Whitmore Cemetery, Buchtel with Brother Michael McGuire officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville Ohio.
