ANDREW COOK DIES SUDDENLY LAST EVENING
Prominent Geneva Teacher Dies From Heart Attack

Andrew C. Cook, aged 39, prominent and well-known teacher, died suddenly at about 7:30 o'clock Wednesday evening at his home on the west edge of Geneva. Death was caused by a heart attack, according to the local physician who attended him. Mr. Cook's death was entirely unexpected and came to a great shock to his many friends and especially to faculty members and students of the Geneva schools.
Mr. Cook had been ailing since January with nephritis. He complained of rheumatism several months ago, and complications developed. However, he taught school until last Friday and his condition was not believed to be immediately serious. Wednesday afternoon he came to a local doctor's office and then went home after 4 o'clock. He was sitting on a couch when he was suddenly seized with the attack and he died almost immediately. His small son was visiting at the home of a neighbor and by the time the lad arrived at home his father was dead.
Mr. Cook was well known in Berne. He was born in Wabash twp., Aug. 26, 1899, a son of John and Jennie Engle Cook. He graduated from the Berne high school and later attended Ball State Teachers College at Muncie where he received his A.B. degree. He taught school the last 16 years. He taught in Blue Creek twp. before going to Wabash twp. For the past 10 years he taught in the Geneva schools. The first eight of these years he taught the eighth grade and Industrial Arts in high school, and the last two years he was a full-time high school teacher.
Mr. Cook was regarded in Geneva as an outstanding citizen, and was active in many affairs. He was a member of the K. of P. Lodge and the Methodist church. Mr. Cook was also a World War veteran, being in the service four months.
Mr. Cook married in August of 1928 to Gladys Marshall Byers. Surviving are the widow, one son, Robert, aged 10, the parents of Wabash twp., one brother, Ernest Cook, of Colingo, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Dan (Lena) Teeter of east of Berne. One sister, Edna, preceded.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Geneva M.E. church following a short service at the home. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery near Geneva
