He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Chapman Byrd; his daughter, Myra B. Fazzi and her husband, Richard and their daughters, Melanie and Stephanie; his son, Edward A. Byrd and his wife, Lisa and their children, Michael and Katherine; and his son, Stuart E. Byrd and his wife, Edna and their daughter, Courtney.
Mr. Byrd retired from C&P Telephone Co. after 37 years of service. He was a WWII veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 186.
His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. His ashes will be inurned at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manchester Vol. Rescue Squad.
