Betty Jo Long, 80, Gladstone, MO, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1929, near Marshfield, MO, the daughter of Bill and Icy (Clift) Booth, and she married Irvin Long in Bethany, MO, on June 24, 1950.

Betty received Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Education and Art from Northwest Missouri State University and taught elementary school for 20 years. In 1960, she joined Englewood Baptist Church and became a pillar in the church, serving as Deacon and in various other leadership roles.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Betty held God and family above all else. Her ingenuity, sense of humor and tenacious determination defined her personality and allowed her to perservere numerous hardships to live a long and meaningful life. She loved gardening, painting and music and adored her friends and family, particularly her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers. Survivors in addition to her husband of 58 years are thee children; Becky Long of Gladstone, Danna Jardon and husband Gary, of Overland Park, KS and Eric and wife Sarah of Leawood, KS; and three grandchildren, Bryce Jardon, Travor Jardon and Ava Long.
