Wabash Switchman Meets Death Saturday Night
Frank Ladig, a Wabash switchman, was found along the round house tracks at 8 o'clock Saturday night by Conductor JB Carrigan, in whose crew Ladig was working. The details of the accident will never be known. Conductor Carrigan first noticed that Ladig's lantern was sitting on top of the car and that the switchman was no where in sight. He began his search and a few minutes later found his body in a heap, about fifty feet north of Taylor street. It is thought that in passing over the switch, Ladig lost his balance and fell beneath the wheels, meeting his death instantly.
He worked on the Pennsylvania for some time and then went over to the Wabash. He is survived by the widow and six children and three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the house, 2325 Miner street, and the burial will be in the IOOF cemetery at New Haven. Fort Wayne News - December 7, 1914
