Adolph Zoss, youngest member of the family. He was born Nov, 24, 1870. He was still attending school when he left Switzerland. Because of his youth he entered the American schools which helped him speak the English language quite fluently. He stayed at the home of a farmer by the name of John Steffen for whom he worked when he was not in school. He married Amelia Alt in Metamorn on Aug. 20, 1895. They lived in Cahoun County, Iowa, and in Minnisota before they moved to Letcher, South Dakota. Amelia passed away Oct. 30, 1957 at the age of 79 in Tucson, Arizona. Adolph passed away Oct. 30, 1957 in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Obituary: Rites Sunday At Forestburg For Adolph Zoss, 86
Forestburg -Funeral services for Adolph Zoss, 86, will be held at the Forestburg Lutheran Church Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Duane Shay officiating.
Burial will be in Butler Township cemetery in Sanborn County with the Basham Funeral Home of Woonsocket in charge of arrangements.
The body will lie in state at the Basham Funeral Home Friday and Saturday.
Mr. Zoss was born in Switzerland Nov. 24, 1870 and died at a Mitchell hospital Oct. 30.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Nellie Golzke, (should be Volzke) of Letcher; Miss Elise Zoss of Alaska; Mrs. Mildred Easthouse of Brandy; Miss Ann Zoss of California and Miss Mary Zoss of Tuscun, Ariz.; and five sons, Jake of Letcher; Adolph Jr., of rural Woonsocket and Charles, Fred and John of Letcher. Hes wife, the former Amelia Alt, two sons and two daughters preceded him in death.
