Aaron Rood was born to Moses and Sarah (Loomis) Rood.

He served in the War of 1812 with the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, was wounded, and received a pension until his death. Aaron's father, Moses Rood, was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Aaron's grandfather, Solomon Rood, died in the French and Indian War.

Aaron was married to Phoebe Carter. Their son, Lawrence Birdsley Rood, settled in Mercer County Ohio in 1840. Lawrence was born in Massachusetts 12 Apr 1812, and married Susannah Golder on 23 Mar 1843 in Gibson Township. Susannah was the daughter of John and Mary Golder, who settled in Mercer County in 1841.
