CALVIN
Jennie Cobb Calvin, daughter of Samuel and Sarah Cobb, was born Nov. 8, 1889 in Lovilia, and departed this life Aug. 28, 1979 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital, Chariton, at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 20 days.
She grew up in Lovilia and on Feb. 1, 1916 was united in marriage to George Calvin in Albia by the Rev. Ira A. Holbrook, pastor of the United Brethren Church.
She and her husband made their home on a farm east of Russell. In 1968 they moved to Russell, where she remained until 1979 when she moved to the Chariton Manor.
She was a member of the former Presbyterian Church of Russell, serving faithfully for over 50 years. When her church merged with the Methodist she became a faithful member there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one niece, Betty Clark; three great-nieces: Scarlett Mooneyham, Marilyn Owens and Patty Bishop; four great-nephews: Rick McKinley, Paul McKinley, Dean Clark and Eddie Clark; two nieces by marriage, Louise McKinley and Media McKinley; one sister-in-law, Margaret Cobb, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell conducting. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
