Obituary excerpts:

THOMAS VINT PASSES AWAY TUESDAY EVE

After an illness of about eight months, Thomas Vint, age 43, plumbing contractor, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home east of the city on the Nashville road. Mr. Vint made a valiant fight for his life, having rallied and lived several weeks after physicians had said he could only live a few more hours, but was unable to overcome the infection which came from a diseased kidney.

While he had been in ill health for more than a year, it was only for the past eight months that his condition was recognized as serious. He was taken to an Indianapolis hospital where he was to undergo an operation, but the examination revealed that he had only one kidney and that it was infected. He was returned to his home where his condition gradually grew worse, until a few weeks ago it seemed that he could live only a few hours. He rallied from this attack however, and had been able since to be about the house.

Mr. Vint was the owner of the Vint plumbing shop on west [sic--should say east] 3rd street and had operated his own business for ten years. Previous to that time he had been employed in local shops. He was a member of the Pentecostal church.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Josephine Vint; his mother, Mrs. I. M. Minton, of Marietta, Ohio; four sons, Everett, Louis, Rex and Max Vint; one step-son, Philip East; three brothers, Vine Vint, of this city, Clarence, of Indianapolis and Lee, of Springfield, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the residence. The music will be in charge of members of the Fairview M. E. church choir. Interment will be made at Clear Creek with Oliver Buchanan, Oscar Sparks, Elbert Hudson, George Carpenter, Charles Gromer and Arthur Moore, acting as pallbearers.
