Leg Crushed by Fall of Coal, Does Not Survive Amputation of Limb
Laci Basista, aged 34, who was injured about 10 days ago by a fall of coal in the Cottonwood Coal company mine at Stockett, died Friday night at Columbus hispatal [sic].Basiasta [sic] sustained a badly crushed leg and his condition became more serious through infection. The injured leg was amputated in hopes of saving his life. He is survived by a wife and five children, living at Stockett.
