Mike was married August 30, 1887 at St. Mary's Crittenden, Champaign, IL,to Josephine Ursula Cler Kleiss 1869-1933, and had 9 children:

Mike and Josephine had four of their children at home, Florence, Caroline, Mary and Elmer. Along with two of their granddaughters were living with them, Evelyn and Irnia(probably Irma). Frank Cler, a nephew was also living with them. Frank was 32 years old and was helping with the farming.

Michael was a farmer who lived in Pesotum Township. He is buried in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery at Pesotum.
