The second son born to George & Dorothea (Ecker) Kleiss, George joined his parents, older siblings Joseph & Catherine as well as his Aunt Mariane (Kleiss) Clementz & her family on the Ship Robert L. Lane, immigrating to New Orleans on 1 Jan 1855. The families then traveled to Indiana where they met up with relatives in Oldenburg, Franklin County. Little George may have taken ill on the voyage or became ill shortly afterward because he died just 29 days after his arrival here.
He rests near his Aunt Mariane here at Holy Family Cemetery.
