Daniel P. Van Donge, 83, of rural Soldier, died Friday in the Holton Hospital. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Margaret Harries of Onaga.

He was born March 13, 1890 at Cawker City, Iowa before he moved to the Soldier community about 40 years ago. He was a retired farmer.

He was married to Bertha Nichols at Havensville. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Donald Van Donge and LaVerne Van Donge, both of Soldier, and Floyd Van Donge of Lyndon; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Massey, Goff, and Mrs. Viola Nichols, Circleville; a brother; four sisters; 20 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Christian Church at Soldier. Burial was in Soldier Cemetery.
