Funeral services are to be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday at the Minneota hall with Rev. Rowland of Gildford officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery at the Grace church yard.
In the passing of Andrew Danielson, the hi-line has sustained the loss of a popular and well known business man, whose business ethics were based upon the principles of honesty and fair dealings. He knew his beef and hogs and never took advantage of the farmer. His greatest weakness was his liberality in giving. And despite the fits of despondency caused by ill health suffered during the past three years, he harbored no ill will to anyone.
Many friends from up and down the hi-line were shocked and saddened when it was reported that Andrew Danielson, 51, popoular and well known propriator of the Gildford Cafe and Meat Market, shot himself with a 22 rifle last Sunday evening at his home while in a fix of despondency. After spending a major part of the day with friends away from home, he returned about 7:00 and entered the back door of the meat market, deeply afflicted with despondency. Despite words of encouragement and sympathy spoken by his wife, he insistantly stated that he was "going to end it all". He was taken to his home and put to bed by his wife, who believed that a few hours of rest would revive his darkened spirits. As his wife turned off the bedroom light he was already apparently asleep. A visit to the bed chamber about a half hour later by his wife found that he had carried out his threat. It is assumed that after his wife had left, he took the 22 rifle from the rear of his pick-up, which was parked near the house and returning to the bedroom shot himself through the head.
