Roy E. Baccus of Seminole, 94, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012, in Seminole. Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Seminole officiated by Rev. Marvin Gregory. Interment was at the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery.
Roy was born July 1, 1917 in Granbury to Peter Monroe and Kate Berry Baccus. Roy and Anita Smith were married November 6, 1937, in Granbury. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. The Baccus family moved to Seminole in 1972. Roy had been a farmer and had also worked for Gaines County precinct Two for many years. He had served as a school board member for Smyer Independent School District.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Anita Baccus in March 2003 and a son Rondall Baccus in 1959.
Roy is survived by a daughter, Martha Jo Hyman of Dimmitt; three sons, Eugene Baccus of Levelland, Ricky Baccus of Seminole and Randall Baccus of White Face; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mark Baccus, Keith Baccus, Brent Baccus, Len Baccus, Curtis Durbin, Bill Settle and Brian Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers were J.B. Baccus Jr., Garry Baccus, Daniel Smith and M.B. Smith Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in Seminole.
