Dimmitt - Martha Jo (Baccus) Hyman, 83, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2021. Private family graveside will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 in the Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with a Celebration of Life Service following at 11:00AM in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan and Pastor Howard Rhoades officiating. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM at the home of Bill and Jo Settle, 715 W. Cleveland St., Dimmitt, Texas 79027.

Martha Jo (Baccus) Hyman was born on November 27, 1938 in Hood County, Texas (Granbury) to Roy Baccus and Anita (Smith) Baccus. Martha Jo graduated from Smyer High School in 1957 and then married Harold Hyman on November 8, 1958. They moved to Dimmitt in 1969 and then later she opened Tots & Teens clothing store in 1975 to 1988. Martha Jo was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1985; she never let that hinder her daily life. She had a strong will and was always willing to attend community and social events, no matter how bad the disability was, she always managed to look like a million bucks. She was a member of the Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Castro County Historical Committee among many other organizations as well, throughout the years. She was known for hosting many wedding and baby showers and was always making sure everyone knew what their duties were. Martha Jo was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all.

Martha Jo is survived by her 2 daughters, Jo Settle and husband Bill and Leigh Durbin and husband Curtis all of Dimmitt, 7 grandchildren, Aubrie, Riley, Sydney, Sam, Luke, Payton and Emily, 3 brothers, Eugene Baccus and wife Shirley of Levelland, Ricky Baccus and wife Cindy of Seminole and Randall Baccus and wife Robin of Levelland along with 4 nephews and 1 niece.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Rondall Baccus.

Memorials may be made to the Southwest Parkinson Society - Lubbock Chapter, 3610 22nd St., Suite 300, Lubbock, Texas 79410 or First Baptist Church, 1201 Western Circle Dr., Dimmitt, Texas 79027.
