He traveled to Michigan Territory with his family and helped his father set up his business as a Tanner in Belle Arbor, Michigan. He died 1/18/1839 Bell Arbor, Lapeer Co Michigan at the age of 16 from typhoid or typhus. His was the first death in this tiny settlement and he was the nephew of Rev Luther Shaw a church missionary to the Michigan Territory.
