Rocky Thad McLaughlin, 60, of Keller passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Pursley officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Rocky was born on Feb. 27, 1949, in Wichita Falls to James and Madeline Kaufhold McLaughlin. He served our country in the United States Army during Vietnam. On April 14, 1995, he married Barbara Beasley in Fort Worth. Rocky was previously employed at PPG for 17 years and worked for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for the past 14 years.
He was a kind, sweet, Christian man with a loving spirit, who loved his family dearly and put them first in his life. Very accepting of others, Rocky never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He enjoyed shopping, antiquing and collecting coins.
In February of this year, Rocky was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. During his courageous battle, with his family by his side, Rocky never complained, but always remained strong.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chad Flint; his brother, Michiel McLaughlin; and his sister, Susan Kuhlman.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Barbara McLaughlin of Keller; sons, Jeff McLaughlin and wife, Kirston, of Austin, and Brad Flint of Roanoke; his parents, James and Madeline McLaughlin; sister, Linda Frost and husband, Greg; brother, Dana McLaughlin and wife, Debbie, all of Wichita Falls; mother-in-law, Mickie Beasley of Troy, Ala.; grandsons, Grayson, Ethan and Jamison; his beloved cat, Chico; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family.
