Elizabeth (Gustin) Beam was born in Madison County, Indiana. She died in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Lemuel Gustin and Catherine Eleanor Noland. Elizabeth married Perry Beam in 1871, in Mercer County, IL. Their children were: Nellie May, Arthur Lemuel, Gertrude Lena, Oscar Lee, Edna Pearl, James Ray, Iva Maude, and Harry Eldon.

May 31, 1934 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Funeral services for Mrs. P.M. Bean, former resident of this community, who died at her home at Modesto, California, on Wednesday May 23rd were held from the Hughes Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The Rev George Bray of Sulphur Springs officiated and during the services Mrs Caldwell sand. Interment was beside her husband in the local cemetery.

Elizabeth Beam was born near Chesterfield, Madison county, Indiana on Dec 31, 1849. At the age of 5 years she moved with her parents, Catherine and Lemuel Gustin in a covered wagon caravan to Mercer county, Aledo, Illinois.

On Dec 28, 1871 she was united in marriage to Perry Monroe Beam and they moved soon after their marriage to Anamosa, Jones county, Iowa the home of her husband.

To this union were born 8 children: Nelie May, Arthur Lemuel, who died at the age of 16 years, Lena Gertrude, Oscar Lee, Edna Pearl, James Ray, Iva Maude and Harry Eldon, all of whom are now living in and near Modesto, Ca, within a few miles of where the mother lived.

On Dec 14, 1914 she moved with her family to California where she had since lived. On May 23, 1934 she passed away at her home in Modesto where she had been living with her youngest daughter, Maude since Nov 1913, living to the ripe old age of 81 years, 4 months, and 22 days.

Her husband preceded her in death on June 2, 1900 leaving her with the care and responsibility of a large family several of whom were small at the time of her husbands death.

She leaves to mourn her passing 7 children: 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild. Also three sisters all living near Portland, Oregon.
