Appomattox: Margaret Babcock Saunders Phillips Seargent, 83, died November 10, 2007, in Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Appomattox County, September 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Robert Washington and Helen Fay Babcock. Margaret was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, and a Teller for Farmers Bank. She is survived by one son; A. Carlton Philips Jr. and his wife, Roberta Grooms of Lynchburg; two step-sons, Forriest Trice Seargent Jr. and Anderson Lee Seargent. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Wickie Saunders, A. Carlton Phillips, Sr., and Forriest Trice Seargent, Sr.; a daughter, Margaret Fay (Peggy) Saunders; a son, Charles Hunter Phillips; two sisters, Helen Fay Lawson, and Blanche B. Poe; three brothers, Homer C. Babcock, Robert Marshall Babcock, and H. Webster Babcock. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Bruce Johnson with burial to follow in the Babcock Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today from 5-7:00 p.m. and other times at the Residence of Helen Beaty.
