Sadie Phillips Covey, 92, of Snowville died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Pulaski County on Oct. 17, 1907 and was the daughter of the late Thomas Phillips and Ardena Montgomery Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Covey. She was a member of the Max Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Harley and Dorothy Covey of Greensboro, N.C., Harry and Shirley Covey of Barren Springs; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Jimmy Dean of Chicago, Ill., Emma C. Surber of Pulaski; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cecil's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Activity Fund Randolph House, Home for Adults, 1560, Pulaski, VA family will be meeting at the home of the daughter Emma Surber, 1220 Randolph, Pulaski.
