Marvin Marion Allen, 88, died September 10, 2001 in American Fork.

He was born August 15, 1913 in Charleston, Utah, to Thomas Warren and Harriet Smith Allen.

He married Fern Elizabeth Shelley June 22, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He spent 43 years as an Educator.

He taught at Charleston Elementary in Charleston and Spencer Elementary in Orem.

He enjoyed being the Principal of the old Paige School in Provo.

He was the first Principal at Greenwood Elementary in American Fork.

He served as Principal there from 1956 until his retirement 23 years later in 1979.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he served in two Bishoprics, and as High Priest Group Leader.

He also served for 17 years in the Provo Temple.

He served for 25 years on the American Fork City Recreation Committee.

He enjoyed serving on the Timpanogos Cave Committee.

He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, telling jokes, drawing and repairing puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Fern, American Fork; a sister, Golda Louise Allen, Orem; children; Dale (Ranee) Allen, Clinton; Jay (Linda) Allen; Lee (Cheryl) Allen; Ranae (Robert) Reese, all of American Fork; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Lynn Allen, parents, brothers and sisters: Smith, Harold, Roger, Grace, Marie and Ross.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 15, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork 23rd Ward, 680 N. 350 W.

Friends may call Friday, September 14 at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday 1 hour prior to the services at the church.
