Goldie May Champlain was born at Meta on Nov. 27, 1931, the daughter of the late Ray Vaughan and his wife, Retha Pendleton Vaughn, and died at her home at Villa Ridge on Wednesday, May 13, at the age of 60.
On July 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Mr. Harold Champlain in St. Louis. They made their home at Villa Ridge and three children were born to this marriage.
Those who survive are her husband, Harold Champlain of Villa Ridge; two sons, Paul Champlain and Robert Champlain of Villa Ridge; one daughter, Brenda Champlain, also of Villa Ridge; one granddaughter, Amanda Gatzemeyer; two sisters, Jerline Ricker of Columbia and Lorine Hayes of Dixon; two brothers, Daniel Vaughan of St. Clair and George Vaughan of Union.
After visitation at the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, funeral services were held on Saturday, May 16, from the Stevinson-Mossmann Funeral Home at Meta at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert Hamm. Interment followed in the Southside Cemetery at Meta.
