Roxie Anna Locke was born to Henry Willis Locke (1862-1943) and Anna Eliza Graves (1864-1934) in Downing, Comanche Co, Texas. Roxie grew up in De Leon, Texas. As a young woman of 21 years, she married Samuel Reese Upshaw (1882-1940) a widower with four children ranging in age from 4-11. In 1926 and 1930 two children of her own were added to the family. Roxie was a lifelong member of the Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and had considerable positive influence on the young people she taught. Her first husband died in 1940 and she spent the next 15 years raising her family as a widow and working as the City Secretary for De Leon, Texas. In 1955 she married George R. Goosby, a widower, and moved to his home in Comanche, Texas. Roxie's strength, both spiritually and physically, was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a happy person who simply did the best she could to serve her family, her town, her church and her Lord. She lived for 95 years and never suffered a serious illness until her last
